Avoid Car Accidents and Live Another Day

You don’t want to ever think about a car accident or what may occur next–calling the local police, checking for injuries, exchanging contact information and trying to recall the chain of events that lead up to it. Any collision can turn your day into a major headache, but by using common sense and slowing down, car accidents can easily be avoided.

Here are some helpful tips from Collision Works - Tulsa in Tulsa, OK to keep you from getting into an accident while becoming a safer, smarter and more cautious driver overall:

o   Don’t drive while you are distracted. Too many auto accidents happen because drivers are distracted. I have seen people eat, shave and even watch TV while driving, and I am not kidding! Never do any activity that could take your eyes off the road for even a millisecond. Checking your cell phone can always wait for after your trip or until you are parked. Distracted driving is totally unsafe and completely irresponsible, so pay attention and avoid a ticket and/or an accident.

o   Stay awake! Don’t drive drowsy, because can be extremely dangerous and leads to thousands and thousands auto collisions each annually. When embarking on long road trips try to take a break every few hours and if you get tired, stop driving and take a snooze. If it's late at night, find a hotel along the way and turn in for the evening, so that you will be refreshed in the morning.

o   Use your turn signal early. Don’t wait until the final second to make a sudden lane change, exit or make a quick turn. Using your turn signals early in the game will give other drivers enough time to avoid an auto collision.

o   Avoid road rage. Some people can get so made while driving, they turn into rabid dogs, but that is crazy. Use extreme caution and always be continually aware of other drivers around you. Change lanes only when you can to give aggressive drivers ample room and let them pass you if they insist. Don’t ever follow any vehicle too closely, and whenever changing lanes, don’t cut off any drivers. When other drivers drive aggressively or tailgate your vehicle, don’t try to retaliate. Life is too short and it’s just not worth it.

If you can follow these simple directives, you will be a safer and smarter driver and save lives--mainly yours. Remember that driving is always a privilege--not a right, so follow the traffic laws and respect others and you'll always be around for another day of safe and accident-free driving.
