Tim Allen's Car Collection

Many celebrities are known to have exotic car collections. Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Floyd Mayweather and David Beckham are huge car collectors, just to name a few. Anyone who loves automobiles, like all of us at Sands Collision Center in Glendale, AZ would probably enjoy taking a look inside Tim Allen’s private garage, which is filled with an impressive collection of rare vehicles. The actor and longtime comedian, who has starred in the television series “Home Improvement” and “Last Man Standing” as well as movies such as “Toy Story” and “Santa Claus", happens to love cars, especially authentic American Motors.

Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, the car capital of the United States, Allen said his first car was a “Baja Bug.” He recalls street racing with his high school buddies, many of whom had fathers in the automobile industry. Today, many of the cars included in his collection were either featured in “Home Improvement” or models he loved as a child.

Here are 10 of the notable vehicles that are part of his eclectic collection:

1933 Ford Roadster: Built on the set of “Home Improvement,” the Ford Roadster is fit with a custom grill and 350 Chevy engine.

1950 Cadillac 60 Series: Known as “Rat Rods,” these hot rods look unfinished, and can go 0-60 in 12 seconds.

1956 Ford F-100 Custom Pickup: The all-steel-body vehicle was modified and includes a 3 1/2 inch chopped top. It has a 426 Hemi and can reach 1,100 horsepower.

1962 Chevrolet 409 Bel Air: Manufactured during 1950-1975, the “Bubble Top” referred to the look of the windshield and back glass.

1965 Shelby Cobra S/C: The original vehicle is a 289 with Halibrand wheels and Webbers, which refers to the carburetor.

1971 VW Karmann Ghia: Known as one of the most popular foreign cars in America in 1956, this vehicle was driven by Maxwell Smart in the television series “Get Smart.”

1986 Ford RS 200: The all-wheel drive rally race car has a Cosworth turbo-charged engine.

1996: Tim Allen Design Chevy LT5 Impala SS: Built by GM, the black vehicle has a Corvette engine, which delivers 446 horsepower at 5,500 rpm.

2000 Tim Allen Design Cadillac DeVille DTSi: The DeVille has a 279 Northstar engine and can reach 398 horsepower at 6,400 rpm.

2004 Porsche Carrera GT: Out of the 1,270 GTs built, 604 were reportedly sold in the United States.

One of Allen’s dream cars not yet part of his impressive collection—a tank! Stay tuned.
