Everyone throughout Palo Alto wants the best summer vacation ever, and no matter where you are headed, you’ll most likely be bringing your smartphone along on your journey. It’s a good thing app stores are full of apps ready to help you plan your trip and keep you entertained.
Here at Mathews-Carlsen Body Works, we’ve narrowed it down to five apps that will help you get the most of your road trip this summer. All of them are free and available on both Android and iOS.
1.) PackPoint
No more worrying about forgetting a toothbrush or your favorite hiking boots. The PackPoint app will help you build a packing list based on the type of trip you are going on, the activities you plan on doing there and the weather forecast. It practically packs your bags for you. After creating a completely customizable packing list using templates, you can even share it with your family so they pack the right amount as well.
2.) Roadtripper
Before you head out on your trip or while you are on the road, you’ll be able to locate interesting places to stop along the way with the Roadtripper app. You’ll find hidden treasures throughout your journey including local diners, quirky roadside attractions and scenic points. Whether you are looking for classic destinations or something off the beaten track, Roadtripper has a wide range of choices for even the pickiest of travelers.
3.) Hotel Tonight
When your day doesn’t go as planned and you’re looking for a last minute hotel, just tap on the Hotel Tonight app. It is a lifesaver when you’re looking for a place to stay and it offers deals on top-rated hotels. In just 10 seconds, it will help you narrow down the best options for your price range and easily book something.
4.) GasBuddy
Find you’re running low on gas? GasBuddy will show you the cheapest gas prices in your location based on postings by previous app users. Since prices can vary by up to 20 cents per gallon or more, GasBuddy comes in really handy during a long road trip. Saving money on gas will allow you to buy that extra souvenir or splurge for dessert during your trip. You can earn points for reporting gas prices and there is also a chance of winning $100 of gas every day.
5.) Snapseed
Capturing great photos during your trip is made easier with Snapseed. This photo app allows you to retouch, re-edit and crop your photos. It’s simple to use and will help improve your photos even if you aren’t an expert in editing. There are also filter options to choose from such as glamour glow, which adds a glow to the image; grunge, which is an edgy look; and vintage, which will make your photos look like vintage color film photos from the ‘50s, ‘60s or ‘70s.
So, as you embark on your summer sojourn, possibly put some of these top apps to use. Hopefully as you leave here Palo Alto and possibly even the state of CA, apps can help you to have a more fun vacation this year.
