5 Life-Changing High-Tech Car Systems that Can Save Your Life

A while back, I bought a new vehicle, because my old car was more than a decade old and I wanted to take advantage of all the safety technology that’s installed on today's automobiles.

At Service King West Ft Worth in Fort Worth, TX we agree that this new cutting-edge technology is great and helps you with your driving, as well as making the entire driving experience safer now than ever before.

Here are a handful of the important safety sensors that may currently be on your car:

1.) Forward Collision Warning System (FCW): Carmakers have done a brilliant job installing the sensors, so it could take you a couple of strolls around your vehicle to find them. Because these sensors are likely located in the grille or front bumper of your car, they can often become blocked by snow, ice, dirt or other debris quickly and easily. When removing snow from your auto, please don’t forget about these sensors.

2.) Adaptive Cruise Control: This system will automatically adjust your speed if you approach a vehicle that is traveling slower than you are. This system often uses radars that are mounted in your grille in addition to an in-vehicle camera.

3.) Blind-Spot Monitoring System: This system will warn you of other cars or motorcycles that are hidden from you while they are in your blind spot. In the good old days, blind spot mirrors were used to help with this dilemma. Today, this system alerts you via sound, visualization and/or vibration. In my new Lexus, the outside mirrors light up with an attention-getting orange color. The radars used in this system are normally found in your vehicle's rear quarter panels. While this part of my Lexus doesn’t get as dirty as the front and rear do, it's always very important to be mindful of where they’re located.

4.) Rear Cameras: Rear cameras act as a wonderful set of extra eyes. This safety device will help you to see directly behind your vehicle, but doesn’t enable you to see pedestrians or traffic moving directly from side to side. On Lexus the camera is right above the license plate located on my tailgate.

5.) Back-up Warning/Rear Cross Traffic Alert System: These sensors provide a fairly loud audible alert as you get close to things or when rear cross traffic begins to approach your car. The closer an object is, the faster the alert will sound. With most newer vehicles, these sensors are usually located within your car’s rear bumper.
