Infotainment systems have become a massively crucial part of any newer vehicle. Most come standard with some form of infotainment, and even some economy models come with either Apple's CarPlay or Android Auto. The first question we had when dealing with the newer generation of infotainment systems is this: Wat exactly is Apple CarPlay and what does it do? 

For those who own iPhones, CarPlay is the seamless integration between the vehicle's computer and your smart phone. It allows you to perform a lot of the basic functions of your phone directly from the vehicle's infotainment system.

You can get directions, make phone calls, text message, listen to music, and access several apps through the screen and voice commands.

These actions can be performed for more safely then with other systems as well. Both Apple and Android have adopted techniques that allow the driver to keep their eyes on the road. 

The controls that allow for such integration are a combination of Siri, touch commands on the console, and knobs. A few of the apps it can access are MLB At Bat, Pandora, Slacker, Spotify, Audible, Amazon, and Radio Disney. CarPlay is available for several iPhone models. These include the SE, 5's, 6's, 7's 8's and iPhone X.
