WeFuel Brings Fuel to You

Imagine you could fill up your car’s tank without going to the gas station. Well, apparently now you can. We here at McCluskey Chevrolet Collision Center just recently found out about a new “fuel-on-demand” startup company called “WeFuel”. Although it only serves two cities in the Bay Area at the moment (Palo Alto and Menlo Park), this company has at least six direct competitors in a tight niche market.

How does “WeFuel” work? The concept is simple—you download their iPhone app, type in the location of your vehicle, and request a fuel delivery. Within less than 30 minutes, a hazmat-certified driver arrives in a small truck and fills up your car with your choice of regular or unleaded gas. You don’t even have to be with the car to have WeFuel fill your tank; in-app payments give you the freedom to fuel up your car anytime, anywhere.

Of course, the service isn’t free—but some might think it’s a little pricey. The WeFuel service will cost you the price

of gas, plus a $7.49 fill up charge. The price per gallon is calculated by WeFuel, based on the data they aggregate from GasBuddy, which calculates daily gas prices based on specific zip codes.

To incentivize frequent users, WeFuel will be rolling out a monthly subscription plan for unlimited refills, at $19.99 per m

onth per vehicle, plus the cost of gas. If you use the subscription and fill up three times in the same month, you’ll save some money.

WeFuel isn’t the only company of its kind—there’s also Filld, GasNinjas, and Yoshi, to name a few. Most of them have

similar fee structures, and are also starting out in small areas before being tested nationally. Depending on how well the concept is received, you may be seeing this service available in your city soon.

Today, everyone wants everything instantly. So many delivery services nowadays are dedicated to seamlessly and direc

tly delivering products to consumers wherever they are. With the internet and smart devices continually getting smarter, people don’t want to wait in long lines anymore. On-demand gas filling services would fit into this trend.

How do you feel about companies like WeFuel, and would you pay extra for the convenience of having your gas delivered straight to your vehicle? Does the higher price outweigh the supposed convenience? We’re not sure—but we’ll be sure to test it out if it ever comes here!
