Get Ready for Bad Traffic in 2019

1. Plan and schedule your trips strategically: Prioritize and multi-task. Hit 3-4 places on the same trip and avoid backtracking. If at all possible, stay away from traveling on weekends and after work hours to avoid big crowds, and avoid that dreaded rush hour. Rely on the newest navigation apps or use your GPS to find alternative routes in lieu of your daily commuting route.
2. Take preventive measures: Make certain that your car is in top shape during the holidays. Check your brakes, lights, oil, water, Battery, air, fuel, engine and tires to be completely safe.
3. Keep your breakdown kit stocked and operable: Make sure that your trunk has all of the essentials you require in the case of a roadside emergency. You should always have things such as brake fluids, engine oils, an extra lightweight battery charger or jump starter, digital tire gauges, a tire inflator and some air compressors even if you really want to be ready for the unexpected.
3. Always obey traffic rules and regulations: Always observe basic driving etiquette, and you will make it through the holidays in one piece. The well-known three-second rule is a perfect way to establish a safe following distance from the car in front of you. Follow all of the road signs, traffic lights and avoid swerving.
4. Be alert and avoid distractions: Keep your eyes on the road and don't use your cell phone or look back at your passengers. Be sure that your dashboard camera and/or navigational systems adhere to the National ADDA (Anti-Distracted Driving Act) Law. Also keep all of your loose items intact like sunglasses, wallets, purses and mobile phones, so they won’t block your view.
5. Stay cool and avoid road rage: The holiday rush is when more drivers will lose their cool. Don’t honk your horn if not's needed. If all of the cars on the road are also stuck in traffic, stay in line without annoying the vehicles around you.
