Slick Cars from the Seventies that Still Rock On!

If you lived in the 1970s, you probably remember about the sporty Mustang, super cool Chevy Chevelle SS and the luxurious Cadillac Coupe DeVille. The 1970s were a gnarly and far-out time for the automotive industry. It was the formative decade for the American Muscle Car, but with the gas shortage crisis of 1973, things slowed down for several years.

If you lived in the 1970s, you probably remember about the sporty Mustang, super cool Chevy Chevelle SS and the luxurious Cadillac Coupe DeVille. The 1970s were a gnarly and far-out time for the automotive industry. It was the formative decade for the American Muscle Car, but when the gas shortage crisis of 1973, things slowed down for several years.

From all of us here at Service King Bell Rd in Phoenix, AZ here is a very cool list about the most stylish and memorable cars of the 1970s:

1971 Datsun 240Z: One of the very first Japanese vehicles that were sweet enough to make the Hollywood crowd adopt it in a huge way.

1972 Plymouth Road Runner: Now, this isn’t the most well-known muscle car out there, but when it was released right before the Oil Crisis of 1973, it became an American legend.

1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille: Cadillacs of the 1970s might not have been as fast as they used to be, but they only got more and more luxurious as time went on. In 1977, the Coupe DeVille was so lavish you might as well be riding on a fluffy cloud.

1978 Porsche 911 Turbo: This lightning-fast sleek car was never a simple vehicle to drive; thanks to its engine that is located behind the car’s rear wheels. As a result, it was tricky to drive, and its primitive turbocharger with lots of lag caused people to call it ''The Widowmaker''.

1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28: Why did we put the 1979 Camaro to this highly exclusive list? Enough said—it is all because of its looks. With an ultra-cool selection of colorful stripes and super flashy wheels, this beauty heralded an era of ''all show and zero go'' that would continue well into the 1980s.

1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302: Designed for racing in the world-class Trans-Am series, this Mustang Boss 302 might not have been the fastest coupe if raced in a straight line, but it was incredibly lethal in the corners.

1970 Dodge Challenger: There were several different versions of the Challenger available, but we always recommend the R/T with a 440, a 6-pack and a 4-speed manual gearbox.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS: You could buy the Chevelle as a sedan with a 6-cylinder powerplant, but the SS version was where it got really interesting. Thanks to a coupe body and a 454 big-block V8, this big bruiser was feared and respected on the drag strips and boulevards of the U-S-A!
