Tesla Model 3 Sets Sales Record

Tesla may be beginning to rethink their sales quotas, as over the last several months they've blown past expectations with their Model 3. May and June started off the spike with sales just over 6,000 units for each month, which Tesla considered great. July saw approximately 14,250 units sold. Tesla was certainly impressed, thinking that it was a wonderful anomaly. When August's sales exceeded 17,800 units, they knew something great was happening. Their new mark was boldly pushed to 20,000 units with an expectation that they'd fall just short of it for September. By their estimations, though, it looks like they surpassed even that by over 2,500 units.

This puts Tesla firmly in the lead for plug-in electric vehicle sales for the year. In reality, with 78,132 units sold for the year they're completely untouchable. The Model 3 is the highest selling electric vehicle in history.

Their closest competition was in 2015 with Nissan's LEAF dominating the plug-in market with 30,200 units. With this year's Model 3 looking to break the 100,000 mark for the year, they'll more than double the previous record.

This proves that mass adoption of plug-in electric vehicles is not only feasible, but happening now.
