Oh Canada! You'll Love the Canadian Automotive Museum

The Canadian Automotive Museum is an internationally respected car museum located in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada that features a vast collection of Canadian-made vehicles. Many of the cars and trucks on display are manufactured by Canadian division of General Motors, which is also known as General Motors Canada and at the forefront of Oshawa's robust economy.

At Service King Galleria if we ever get a chance to travel from here in Houston, TX to Canada, we'd love to visit the Canadian Automotive Museum.

A 40-minute drive from downtown Toronto, the Canadian Automotive Museum is the home for roughly 90 vehicles. The majority of them are on display with the remainder stored either on or off-site.

The museum was founded in 1962 by a group of businessmen associated with the Oshawa Chamber of Commerce. The venture's goal originally was to preserve the automotive history of Canada and present it in an informational and entertaining way.

Housed in a 25,000 sq. ft. building located in downtown Oshawa, the structure is the former location of Ontario Motor Sales, a local car dealership that was established in the 1920s. The building maintains its original architecture, including the original elevator used to move vehicles to the second floor.

Visitors from all around the planet have come to the see the specialized exhibits and vehicles. The museum is commemorated Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017 by undergoing improvements throughout the facility.

Open all year, the museum caters to people of all ages. Kids get a chance to take part in activities and workshops available throughout the galleries. They can also have a picture taken in a 1920s automobile or a mini McLaughlin Buick.

Special guided tours are available where visitors can hear about criminals, high-speed races and other Canadian stories.

The museum also houses the Canadian Automotive Research Library that includes an extensive collection of automotive-related books and other materials.

The museum’s eclectic collection includes some of the greatest Canadian cars ever made, including a 1908 Tudhope-McIntyre, a 1949 Mercury Meteor, a 1971 Manic GT, a 1981 Plymouth K Car, a 1902 Orient Buckboard, a 1926 and an Ahrens-Fox Pumper Firetruck.

The museum also contains a 1912 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost – Named "Ladybird" by Lady Eaton, and a 1926 Bentley 3L Speed Model, that was imported from Great Britain, as well as a 1928 Bugatti Type-37, a 1931 Alfa Romeo and a 1965 Amphicar imported from Italy.
