Surviving Perilous Situations While Driving

AutoBody-Review surviving perilous situations while drivingWhenever people go through scary moments in their cars and survive them--like flipping over, hydroplaning, underwater submersions, sliding off the road or hitting another vehicle or an object at a high speed--they always talk  about how they were able to stay calm while acting quickly. Hopefully, you will never be in that situation, but if you are--here is some common sense advice that can help you for when the unexpected happens.

If you ever find yourself in a perilous situation while you're behind the wheel of your car here in Plano, TX or anywhere else in the country, knowing what to expect and being prepared can provide you with that much-needed peace of mind, and maybe even save a life in the process.

From all of us at Service King Southwest Plano, the #1 rule is to maintain your cool and assist your passengers to stay calm as well. Panic won't benefit anyone.

Here are with some tips that can help you in a wide range of differing circumstances:

Memorize the locations of your window switches and door locks. Note whether or not the front doors unlock by just pulling the door handles. With many vehicles, door locks can be programmed to unlatch with the handle, so know that and remember it, especially in the case of a fire or a submersion.

Don't disregard safety precautions that many people forget about, such as making certain that all of your tires—including the spare—are properly inflated at all times without exception. If you don't have a good spare and you get a flat on a desolate road, you might have a long wait and a potentially dangerous situation on your hands.

Always store a spare key with you or in a magnetic holder that can be hidden somewhere on your car's chassis, such as a near a wheel well or under the hood.

Buy an emergency kit that includes basic first aid supplies, a fold-up shovel, towing straps, jumper cables, drinking water, reflective plastic triangles, and rock salt or sand in snow country.

Always have your cell phone and its car charger with you, especially on long road trips. And make sure to have all of your emergency phone numbers, including the local police and roadside assistance.

By being as prepared as you can and alert when the times come, you'll be able to survive a dangerous scenario while driving. We can't always control everything that life throws us, but we can at least try to be ready if and when an emergency occurs on the road.
