American Industries Turn To Israel For Cybersecurity Assistance

Israel has long been known for their elite special forces training. They have produced some of the most efficient and competent military personnel in the world. Recently a branch of their special forces has risen as the dominant force in cybersecurity, and several nations are following suit to catch up.

The 8200 Unit is a specially trained branch of Israel's Defense Force, and as members of this unit retire from military service, their skills are becoming a major global commodity. The advancements they've made in digital security have given rise to a booming industry in Israel, with over 400 independent securities actively operating in the country. 

8200 Unit's skills are constantly tested, as the rise of cyber threats increases. A rare press release from them in 2017 detailed how they had thwarted an ISIS air attack against an unnamed Western country. Every day they're working to ensure the safety of their country and their allies in a hundred different ways, and businesses worldwide have taken notice of their unique skills, looking to tempt the best and the brightest into the private sector. 

One of the industries that have taken particular interest in these skilled individuals is auto manufacturing. As vehicles become more interconnected and technologically dependent, hackers have found ways to manipulate them to their advantage. Having a security expert who can quickly familiarize themselves with new hardware is extraordinarily valuable. Manufacturers have jumped on the opportunity Israel has presented, with Daimler and GM building research and development centers in Israel and Volkswagen has formed a new security company with Yuval Diskin, the former director of Israel's internal security service that specializes in protecting autonomous vehicles.

"Israel has invested enormous resources and has trained the manpower to specialize in cyber threats of all shapes and sizes," Diskin said. "Even the police have employees who are among the best in the world as far as cybersecurity goes."
