Now that you know the shocking statistics concerning heatstroke in the U.S., you can hopefully start protecting your family from this potential danger. By following these tips, the tragedy of heatstroke will never impact you or your family's lives.

·        Look Before You Lock Your Car. Check and re-check and check again. Get into a routine in which you always check the back seats of your car before your lock it up and walk away.

·        Use A Gentle Reminder. Always insert a stuffed animal or other item in your kid's car seat whenever it is empty and relocate it to the front seat as a visual reminder when your child is sitting the back seat. Or put your phone, briefcase, or purse in the back seat whenever traveling with your child.

·        Make a Series of Routine Checks. If someone else is driving your child in a car, or your daily routine has been altered in any way, shape or form, always look to make certain that your child has arrived safely.

·        Use a Key to Safety. You know that you need to to keep your car locked, all the time, but remember to also keep your keys just out of reach. Nearly 3 in 10 heatstroke fatalities take place when an unattended young person gains access to a vehicle.
