If you’re a new parent (either of a new car or a new child, or both), we here at West Carstar Auto Body want to say congratulations! You’re embarking on a wonderful journey full of love and excitement, but also of cheerios and car seats. Once you’ve determined what kind of car seat you need, the next step is to make sure that your car is ready to transport you, your new bundle of joy, and the rest of your family.
West Carstar Auto Body would like to offer some vehicle-related items to go through before you bring the baby home.
Maintenance
You’d think that this goes without saying, but in the chaos of waiting for a new baby, you might forget to give your car that routine check-up it’s been needing. Give your car a once-over inspection, being sure to check not only the outside of your car for any bumps, loose components, or leaks, but also the inside. Thoroughly vacuum and wipe down the inside.
When’s the last time you checked on your regular maintenance schedule? If you’re not sure how often you should be getting necessary tune-ups like oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and the like, check out your owner’s manual. Usually, these are kept in the glove compartment in your car and can give you information on how often you should be keeping up with your car’s maintenance (and how not to void your warranty). Not only will you be taking every measure to make sure your new baby is safe en-route, but you’ll also be warding off any possible headaches (like a check-engine light) in the sleepless months to come.
Stock Up on Essentials
Aside from the car seat, take a moment to think about all of the other essentials you may need while traveling with your baby. A good place to begin is with whatever you already have stocked in your diaper bag. Having multiples of essential supplies such as diapers, wipes, and sippy cups in your car can come in a lot of handy.
There are also lots of car accessories out there that may come in handy for a new baby, and eventually for a messy toddler.
Look into over-the-seat car trash cans, organizers, rubber mats, and even car seat covers. These will not only be convenient but may also help you retain the value of your car and the cleanliness of your upholstery!
West Carstar Auto Body is always excited to see new families in [City], [State], and we wish you the best with yours!
