Auction Held For Iconic Ferris Bueller GT

Auction Held For Iconic Ferris Bueller GT

I love Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Growing up, it had everything that I could have asked for. It had drama, comedy, action, and just enough romance. Never mind that Ferris would be labeled a dangerously narcissistic and manipulative sociopath by today's standards. It was 1986 and a fun movie. Except one part. It always made me cringe when they wreck the car they stole from Cameron's dad.

That car was a thing of beauty. The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder was breathtaking. OK, the cars actually driven in the movie were replicas. Still, they are impressive.

Getting an original 1961 Ferrari to use in filming would have been prohibitively expensive. Instead, the one in the Frye family's glass garage is a 1985 Modena GT Spyder California with a ton of modifications made to the body to mimic the Ferrari.  I don't blame John Hughes one bit for not wanting to use an original for the action scenes, either. Today one is worth roughly 11 million.

The Modena at auction is just as impressive inside as out. I combines a 5 liter V8 engine with 4 downdraft Weber carburetors and a five speed transmission. Also, the auction winner will receive a handful of Ferris Bueller move memorabilia.

As we say at Don Mcgill Toyota Of Houston Collision Center of Houston, TX
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
Wait, that my have been Ferris Bueller, but we echo the sentiment.
