BMW Motorrad Unveils Hover Ride Concept

AutoBody-Review BMW motorrad unveils hover ride concept Anyone who has ever played with Legos as a child or adult has likely built and created something cool. Even though they were small in scale, many of those Lego lovers probably wish that they could have a real full-sized version of their inspired creation, whether it's a car, truck, helicopter or plane.

At Texas Body & Frame, we have seen some fairly amazing forms of transportation, but this one is really a hair scratcher. It's called the Hover Ride Concept and if and when it becomes a reality, we can't wait to see one in Lubbock, TX.

The manufacturer is BMW Motorrad, the creator of the Hover Ride Concept. This is real and not just something you might see in a Star Wars film. It's well past the digital mock-up stage with early prototypes in development.

The first Hover Ride Concept was put on display at the Lego World Show in Copenhagen, Denmark before being sent to  the BMW Group Research and Innovation Center in Munich. BMW Motorrad is serious about developing the Hover Ride Concept further and putting some of their top designers on the project.

The Hover Ride Concept initially began as a partnership between Lego and BMW Motorrad, the German automaker's motorcycle division, for a 603-piece BMW R 1200 GS Lego Adventure kit.

This is a 2-in-1 Lego kit and if you're a Lego fan, you're familiar with that. But, for those who are Lego rookies, 2-in-1 Lego kits contain a set of Lego pieces that can be styled into two finished different products. In the case of the R 1200 GS, the second kit is a futuristic flying motorcycle. When the top-notch design team at BMW Motorrad realized how much fun they had while working with Lego, the group made a decision to design a full-scale model.

Can the Hover Ride Concept ever become a real, functioning concept? Many say it's a slam dunk, while others think it will never become a reality. Either way, it makes for a great Lego version of a hover bike. With a propeller instead of a front wheel and  featuring a wide range of traditional BMW Motorrad elements like its signature boxer two-cylinder engine, this thing rocks! Until the actual BMW Motorrad Hover Ride Concept is a reality, you can buy the Lego kit for $59.99, which seems like a great fit for kids of all ages.
