The Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo is a Self-Driving Partying Sensation

The Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo PreviewThere have been a ton of self-driving concept cars coming out lately and unfortunately many of these will never get past the concept stage. As automotive innovators push the envelope with new technology, cutting-edge aesthetics, and a wide range of new bells and whistles, all of us here at DFW Collision Centers East Grapevine love to read the latest car news.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo is, yes, very conceptual—but the technology to make it a reality exists, and is affordable. Described by many as a "video game with four wheels", the Vision Tokyo might be the future of autonomous party vans. If you don't have to concentrate on the road while driving along Grapevine , why not have a good time?

Mercedes calls this self-driving five-seat electric van a “a chill-out zone in the midst of megacity traffic mayhem” that “reflects the growing youthfulness” of Mercedes. In Japan, studies show that consumers are more open to purchasing vehicles featuring unique shapes, sizes and colors, and the Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo surely fits that description.

The Autonomous Vehicle, The Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo

Powered by electric motors, the Vision Tokyo rides on considerable 26-inch wheels that spin and glow. The juice for the motors comes from a hybrid hydrogen fuel-cell system with zero emissions that permits drivers to travel approximately 600 miles between refills. This is a huge feature, because it makes the van more sense for long road trips or vacations.

Of course, the Vision Toyko is an autonomous car, and a while back Mercedes’ executives were announcing that their cars would always feature steering wheels, the lion's share of the other controls for a driver have been almost completely eliminated. The driver’s seat does exist on the vehicle, but can be stored away when the car is put in its self-driving mode.

The exterior of the Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo is one-of-a-kind, but its interior is really gaining a ton of attention. Imagine a limo-type interior with all of the amenities of a small nightclub and that's a brief description of this cutting-edge form of partying propulsion. Spacious Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo

As this concept van continues to add innovative features, more and more millennials will undoubtedly want to get (or at least party in) one of these amazing vehicles. To take it to the next level, Mercedes said that this car of the future will have its entertainment systems controlled by 3-D holograms.  So stay tuned—by 2020 this van will reportedly be on our roads here in Grapevine , TX with mobile revelers enjoying every minute of it!
