Porche To Be Almost Completely Electric By 2027
Porche To Be Almost Completely Electric By 2027
In a recent interview with German business journal Manager Magazin, Porche reported that it intends to shift nearly all of its production toward electric powered vehicles. This includes the Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, and Boxster models, leaving 911 as the only internal combustion-engined vehicle it will sell by the year 2027. The majority of the changes are to be enacted between 2022 and 2025, meaning over 75% of the vehicles that Porche manufactures will be electric early in the next decade. This is of particular interest to service shops and collision centers such as our partners at Imperio Auto Repair in Miami, FL, as it will affect the way repairs will be handled in the future.
There is a steep curve to the percentages of electric vehicle production, which estimates 99.9 percent of all vehicles provided will have an electric powertrain by 2027.
By 2019, only .2 percent will be electric. By 2022, 17.73 percent will be. The trend increases dramatically over the following years until reaching 100 percent in 2030.
Porche CEO Oliver Blume has stated that even the Porche 911 will inevitably go hybrid, but will never be electric-only.
For their flagship model to remain what it is, it'll have to keep its rear-mounted flat six.
