Cadillac Returns To Michigan
After moving their headquarters to Manhattan three years ago, Cadillac has made the decision to return to Michigan.
"The move will place the Cadillac brand team closer to those responsible for the new Cadillacs, including design, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing, ensuring full integration of Cadillac's global growth strategy," Cadillac said in a recent statement.
The company has leased their current headquarters until 2025 and spent $12.7 million in renovations prior to the move. Cadillac states that it will maintain a brand presence in Manhattan through the duration of their lease.
They are currently attempting to determine the best strategy to move their employees between the two locations to maximize efficiency. Their stated goal is to launch a new or redesigned vehicle every six months through the 2021 model year.
The decision comes less than six months after GM executives ousted the previous Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen, who was a former Infiniti and Audi executive. They replaced him with Steve Carlisle, a longtime GM employee who most recently led the automaker's Canadian operations.
