AAA Predicts A Record Number Of People On The Road This 4th Of July

This may be the year to catch a local fireworks show, experts say. A recent statistical model run by AAA is predicting that this year up to 5% more motorists will be heading over 50 miles from their home to celebrate Independence Day. 

A predicted record 46.9 million Americans hitting the road with the highest estimated peak traffic time to be the afternoon of Tuesday the 3rd. Not coincidentally, many businesses will either be closed or have modified hours for the remainder of the week due to planned vacations. 

With so many people on the road, the probability of traffic incidents goes up dramatically as well. Special attention will have to be paid on the road as long drives and heavy traffic naturally leads to distracted and tired driving. As the chances of incidents grow, so does the estimated drive times. This leads to a confluence of events that could likely cascade into a "perfect storm" scenario of traffic nightmares.

The important thing to remember while making that drive is that you arrive safely to your destination.
