The Worst Of SEMA
The Worst Of SEMA
SEMA (the Specialty Equipment Market Association) is one of the most amazing trade shows held in the US. It showcases the newest and greatest in aftermarket parts, equipment, and custom vehicles in the country. Some of the cars are truly amazing marvels of technology while others are...less so. There are on occasion rare misses that most people can agree are somewhat off.
The Acura RDX Graham Rahal Performance debuted with a lop of flash, but failed to deliver in the way of specs. Nice graphic wraps with mediocre performance. The DUB Kia Stinger/K900 is another that was more flash than substance. Some tweaks in the right direction were made, but the obnoxious body styling runs counter to everything they did right.
The Kevin Costner Toyota Tundra is a mystery. It's a great truck. Kevin Costner is a...he's an actor. Why would the two ever be put together. What does the one have to do with the other?
Finally, we have the Nissan Kicks Sound Machine. This is the most obnoxious vehicle I've ever seen or heard. It's an SUV that got Frankensteined into a DJ booth, complete with turntable. It's not only worthless, it's ugly.
There are always winners and losers when it comes to any trade show, but the division was really pronounced this year. Still, neither we nor or partners at Service King West Little Rock here in Little Rock, AR would turn down the opportunity to take a ride in any of then, if even just for bragging rights.
