I originally was contacted by my Geico rep saying most of the repair had been completed on my car but the wheel failed the quality control. I was given the option of waiting another week for the wheel to come in and replaced or accept it as is and not have to pay my $200 deductible. I told them I wanted to come and look at it first before deciding. After looking at the repair I opted to wait another week for a new wheel and pay the $200 deductible, which they asked for at that time. I had to use my credit card because I didn't realize I would be paying it that day since I had just come to approve or disapprove the wheel repair. When looking at the rest of the repair I noticed that The stone guard application was much thicker and noticable on the repaired side compared to the original factory applied stone guard so the two sides look different. When I inquired about it I was told by a woman in the office that is the best they could do due to equipment that the shop uses compared to the factory. She has less than satisfactory people skills, bordering on rudeness. As I was leaving my Geico rep approached me to ask if I was satisfied and I told him about the stone guard. He looked at it and agreed it didn't look good and went into the office to suggest it be redone. I followed and he was met with the same negative response from the same woman and he turned to me and said he was sorry, nothing could be done. The rest of the repair looked good and I am still waiting for a wheel replacement. They requested that I take my car home and return the rental and bring the car back when the wheel comes in and wait while they change it. They didn't give me a reason why they wanted me to take it but my Geico rep suggested that it was probably due to lack of parking. I initially went in to approve or disapprove the failed quality control check on the wheel. I would have cleaned out my rental car had I known they were going to ask me to leave it and take my car that day. I had to move everything from one car to another in the parking lot. I am a traveling teacher, so this included quite a few text books as well as items that I needed to return to stores after Christmas. A minor inconvenience I admit, but I would have removed the items and vacuumed the car at home if I had known beforehand. Although I hope I will eventually be mostly satisfied once the wheel is replaced (if I ignore the mismatching stone guard) the inconveniences would have been easier to accept had they been accompanied by office staff who were friendlier and who cared whether the customer was satisfied. It would have been nice for them to offer to waive my deductible for not being able to match the stone guard due to inefficient equipment rather than just when it would be easier for them to not have to make the repair on the wheel if I was willing to accept something that didn't pass a quality control check. - Tina Dodd
