I couldn’t ask for a better truck repair experience. Gustavo kept me constantly updated so I knew exactly what was going on and he was invaluable as a go- between with the insurance co. My main complaint is that the email updates I received were inaccurate and caused me to have to spend $166.78 out of pocket on a rental car I did not need. Everyone I spoke with in person was very kind and accommodating and the repairs were well done but because I was repeatedly given inaccurate information via the automated emails I am extremely dissatisfied and will likely not be returning as a customer (though I have used Chilton before and even recommended it to others). I made an online appointment for an estimate through the website. When I arrived I was told that Chilton would not give an estimate at that time and would also not do the estimate without my committing to having the repairs done at Chilton. At that time I scheduled a second appointment to have the estimate and repairs done based on my previous positive experiences with the shop. After I dropped off the car at the second appointment I was told that it would be shipped to San Rafael because they were not able to complete the repairs at the SF shop. Again, because I had a previous positive experience and I was assured this would mean getting my car back sooner I agreed. I was then called by the San Rafael telling me that my car was covered in ash and needed to be washed. It turned out they had called the wrong customer, but caused some confusion and was quite unprofessional. I was repeatedly sent email updates saying that everything was on schedule and my car would be returned by February 28th. On February 27th I was end an email update that the car would not be ready until March 4th. Because I was only given one day's notice that I would not have the car for that weekend I was forced to pay out of pocket for a rental car. I called the shop (to no answer) and later was able to get in touch with someone who told me there was a part on backorder and they had not bothered to tell me until the 27th. I was told that the car might be ready on Friday if I were to call back. After calling back each day for the next few days I was told there was no chance of the car being finished until March 4th. On March 4th, after all of the back-and-forth of the next weekend I recieved an automated email that the car would not be ready until March 5th. I was extremely upset at this point that the car had been delayed and also that I had not even been paid enough concern to merit a phone call with an explaination so I called to express my frustration. I was unable to get in contact with anyone so I left a voicemail. Later that day I recieved missed a call from the shop and recieved a very nice email apologizing and offering to detail my car. On March 5th I recieved another automated email saying the delivery had been pushed back until March 6th and eventually a phone call saying there had been a problem with the tow truck. When I was finally able to pick up the car on March 6th it had not be detailed. I honestly don't care about the extra time it took to fix the car, and I was otherwise treated very kindly by the staff at Chilton but I am upset I had to pay the $166.78 for the rental car I did not need because I was unable to plan for the late delivery. I think all of these problems were created but the ill used automated email system.

Hard with changing finish dates- had to cancel events cuz thought picking up car several different times. On the other hand, knew my car wasn’t being forgotten. I mentioned this to the office staff and was explained changes due to coordinating with out side sources (ieToyoto for computer work etc) so do understand but still frustrating
